Lois was in Florida working at her new job when the Maury Povich show called. I said No, but I gave in. When the Sally show called us, Lois really wanted to go so this time we were going. The kids and I were living in Tennessee and Lois had just found us a home in Florida. It's hard to find someone to rent to a family of 11. I had all 9 kids for about 3 months, and It was getting old. I wanted to move right now and not wait any longer. But like I said, the Sally show wanted me to be on their show about stay at home dads. And I said no way. So, this time I gave in. Lois loves showing off her kids and talking about them. So we went......
We made it to New York and the kids all had lots of fun and Maury Povich is a great guy. He seems to love kids.
Highlights of our Trip.
1. The show flew Lois up from Orlando and the kids and I from Nashville TN. Then, we all met at the New York airport.
2. The filght cost almost $4,000 for all 11 of us. (Of course, everything was payed for by the show.)
3. A limousine picked us up at the airport.
4. We saw the statue of liberty and the Empire State building.
5. They put us up in a suite at Loews Hotel, at 525.00 dollars for 1 night.
6. The show gave us $550.00 for spending money.
7. Lois lost her plane ticket back to Orlando.
8. We got to the airport late and almost missed our flight.
But it all worked out. The airport called over the loud speaker and said Dennis, the party with 9 kids, we are holding your flight. Thank goodness because the next flight was 3 hours later with a 1- hour lay over and we would had to change planes, too. The Povich show bought Lois another plane ticket. Like I said, THANK GOODNESS.....
My mother let the movers in a day early to move our things to Florida. So, when we came back everything was gone, even our luggage. So, the kids and I left right away for Florida. Our kids were ages 3 to 11 And all our clothes were gone, but I did have the things we wore to New York .
It was an adventure we will never forget......
But with our family we have lots of stories to tell our grand children, like the time we left one at a rest area on a trip to Colorado.......
